I hope this Memorial Day finds everyone well. While I strive to be an irreverent smart ass in all that I do, I must momentarily break from that in order to extend my sincere gratitude to all of those who have served and are no longer with us to enjoy a three-day weekend. Of a nation of roughly 304 million, only 1.4 million serve in an active duty capacity, with another 1.1 million in the Reserves or National Guard. No matter how you cut it, that is an shockingly small percentage. Of those 2,500,000 citizens, it is an even smaller portion that are among the combat arms community - those literally doing the fighting and dying for this country. My sincere thanks to all of those, past and present, who have volunteered to put themselves in harms way.
